All About Jana Siebers

My work is rooted in contemplation of nature both in vastness and quantum minuteness. I paint in oil, building layer by layer. The aim is to achieve a glow of light, space, and time.


I work with themes or subjects which are returned to over time, and so I build up a series of paintings and drawings around different subjects which often span years. Such themes are typically, Autumn, Winter, Wind-Falling, Wind-Drifting, Veils, Water, Space/time.... I believe drawing underpins professional practice, I draw every day. I like the discipline of drawing from life and observation, but I have also developed a technique which allows drawings to become layered, by using pencil, paint and tonal washes.
